Go Phillies?
October 25th, 2009 | by ahfischman |The World Series is now officially set. The Philadelphia Phillies will take on the New York Yankees.
Lots of Dodger fans will no doubt be hoping that the Phillies fall in bitter defeat; the rationale being that the Phillies should “get a dose of their own medicine”. The Phillies have broke the Dodgers’ hearts two years in a row now. Plus, they already got their championship last year…why do they need another one?
Well, personally, I’m rooting for the Phillies. I always root for the National League team unless the Red Sox are in the Fall Classic. Don’t hate me for being honest. I’ve always been a Dodger fan first and a Red Sox fan second even when the Red Sox were still finding inventive ways to lose. I’m not a bandwagon Sox fan. Anyway, I always root for the NL representative, because I love our League, and I absolutely despise the Designated Hitter. Secondly, the Dodgers’ postseason woes are a little less haunting (for me at least), given that the team to beat them ended up going all the way. The Phillies really did earn the National League Pennant. Lastly, I hate the Yankees.
Predictions and my hopes are two different things. I truly believe that the Yankees will win the World Series in 6 games, but I hope that I’m wrong.
I’m not saying that Dodger fans should even care about who wins. Yes, I realize that the Dodgers have gone home and nothing else matters (to many of you), but just watch the Series. Pay these two teams the respect they deserve and who knows…maybe you’ll witness some spectacular baseball?
